The Kaleidoscope desk

We have worked with Savills GB and Savills France on a number of projects in recent years. The latter's most recent commission is a special one, this time for the interior design of its own Paris headquarters. And so is the question posed by the real estate group. It obviously wants a state-of-the-art working environment that is as efficient for its managers as it is attractive for its employees, combined with an assertive identity. At the same time, it would like a "manifesto project" capable of sharing with its visitors, large companies, clients or prospects of Savills France, the values and standards that make up the group's commitment to the office today.
Chambers architects' response for 59 rue de Toqueville (Paris 17th), a three-storey building plus entresol, was radical. A minimalist intervention, economically and ecologically controlled, with colored natural light as the sole material, produced and reflected by a dichroic film. The film is applied to both exterior and interior glazing. The shimmer of the courtyard façade and the richness of the ambiances, enhanced by the furniture and colored partitions, are infinite and changeable, warm or invigorating, as the hours, days, seasons... and time go by.
