From Nadar to Pinsent Masons

Although the new Paris headquarters of Pinsent Masons, a British firm of international lawyers, does not reproduce the open-space layout chosen for all employees at the London headquarters, it does share with it an original signature space. In the UK, access to the building is via a beautiful lounge area that welcomes visitors and employees alike, and exudes confidence in a subtle blend of comfort and cordiality. In the French capital, the same spirit is displayed in a vast, cosy volume that is equally at home as a visitor reception area, morning coffee bar, after-work meeting or cocktail lounge... The space chosen for this multifunctional role was nevertheless preferred to another, even more exceptional, both architecturally and historically, but further from the entrance: the double-height, glassed-in studio of Nadar, one of the inventors of photography in the 19th century! It was on this well-known building on Boulevard des Capucines (9th), owned at the time by this precursor, that the managers at Pinsent Masons, dare we say it, "flashed". Apart from these unusual volumes, the ceiling heights are lower, but Chambers architects played on this constraint to create cosy ambiences with combinations of deep, warm reds and light surfaces (wood veneer, stretched fabric, painted walls) bathed in natural light. Meeting rooms, individual and shared offices, ancillary rooms... all share the same ambience in multiple variations.

After research and comparative analysis of different buildings, the unique appeal of the Nadar building became apparent to Pinsent Masons. For Chambers architects, however, a key part of the design work involved negotiating the BEFA, with a significant proportion of the planned works being reallocated to the lessee to avoid the heavy rework and adaptations that all too often fall to the incoming owner. In this way, not only were time and money saved, but the result could not have been closer to the customer's expectations. Which is what we aim to achieve[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row].
