This project involves the complete restructuring of a private mansion adjoining the Paris campus of this world-famous internet company. Extensive work is being carried out to turn it into a modern office building, including the conversion of the basement into a cafeteria with kitchen facilities, the creation of video conferencing rooms and new sanitary facilities. The refurbishment work includes a new lift, structural reinforcements, a complete air-conditioning network, the creation of a glass roof over the main courtyard and the creation of connections to link the building to the campus. The interior fittings emphasise the historic nature of the building while introducing a contemporary touch. The meeting rooms, designed as ‘boxes within boxes’, preserve the volumes of the principal rooms. Metal reinforcements are left exposed and colour applied. Parquet floors, mouldings, stone floors, mirrors and gilding have been preserved and enhanced.
