For its new headquarters, Savills France, an international commercial real estate consultancy, sought a workspace that was as functional as it was a showcase for its commitments and vision of what a contemporary office would look like in 2025. Chambers Architects’ design for this three-story building with a basement reflects this philosophy, which embraces minimalism through an approach that is as environmentally conscious as it is cost-effective. In a word, “architectural restraint” in the interior. Thus, Savills’ “manifesto” headquarters does not hesitate to reveal the history of the renovated building and to play with simple, beautiful, natural, and recycled materials to create spaces with distinct identities. However, the headquarters’ exceptional architectural signature lies in the shimmering interior light—white or tinted (via dichroic films), bright or soft, shifting throughout the day, with the weather, or across the seasons. It perpetually transforms the spaces and atmospheres, much like church stained-glass windows projecting colorful geometric patterns onto the floors and walls.
